Adipokines and Myokines - Common Language of Muscle and Fat?
Establishing a Methodical Platform for Muscle Research in Human, Model and Farm Animals

A Project within the Framework

The Competitive Procedure (SAW Procedure) for Leibniz Projects under the Joint Initiative for Research and Innovation

The project targets the function of adipo- and myokines in fat deposition in skeletal muscle and aims at elucidation of the crosstalk between adipocytes and myocytes. To this end, we will establish a sustainable network for muscle research in farm animals, humans and rodents. This will be accomplished by exchange of methods, models, data and expertise of all partners. Although the partners ultimately have different goals -optimization of meat quality in farm animals and identification of novel therapeutic targets in humans-understanding the common basic principles is essential to accomplish these goals making the project beneficial for all partners.
